Brief Job Overview/Summary

The GOALS program is designed to provide college access by preparing scholars academically, financially, and emotionally for post-secondary education opportunities. The program is seeking instructors for Summer Academy to provide academic enrichment to students in grades 7 – 12 from the Atlantic City and Pleasantville Public School District. The GOALS Summer Academy will operate Monday through Thursday from 8:00am – 3:00pm, July1st until August 8th. Additionally, there will be a required general Summer Staff training on Saturday, June 22nd . This position is designed to develop the skills, character and discipline needed for success as students graduate and matriculate to post-secondary education. This rigorous six-week summer program is designed to help students develop in reading, writing, mathematics, and technology.

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The Residential Coordinator is a 6-week live in position. Reporting to the GOALS Director, this position is an hourly based position. This position will/ can accumulate up to 6 hours per week from Monday through Wednesday for the first 4 weeks of the program and then 8-10 hours per week during the residential program from Sunday through Wednesday. This position will also require you to attend the Opening and Closing Ceremonies during the program. Please note that hours and responsibilities may fluctuate based upon the needs of the program. Residential Coordinator (s) will not hold additional employment or take classes (including online) without the approval of the Director.

Additionally, the chosen candidate will receive an on-campus residential room from Sunday - Thursday from (June 30th through August 8th) and meals during training and when students are on campus. Residential Coordinator (s) will be responsible for the following: 

Coordinate housing functions of the academy, such as room assignments, logistics for move-ins and move-outs; liaise with residential life staff as needed.

Assist students in coordinating transportation to return home during the week on weekends, Document check-in and check-out procedures.

Create and participate in 24-hour GOALS Staff on-call duty when students are on campus. Utilize campus resources and existing on-call structure when appropriate.

Facilitate roommate mediations as needed.

Follow GOALS and University reporting structure to document any medical, behavioral, psychological, or other student issues.

Assist students in coordinating with students in need of medical attention to off-campus medical resources (vaccinations) or Urgent Care/ER; remain with the student until a parent/guardian arrives or the student can be transported back to campus. Document transport and student illness through incident reporting.

Maintain consistent communication with Counselor, instructional assistants (Mentors), and GOALS staff.

Maintain a high level of visibility by interacting and developing relationships with scholars when possible.

Promote a strong sense of belonging among scholars.

Educate students on program and institutional policies; uphold them.

Assist with coordination of and activities, including but not limited to social events, service learning, etc.

Assist with planning of the end-of-program closing ceremony and Showcase.

Receive attendance reports from Instructional Assistance (Mentors) and ensure all scholars are at their scheduled locations.

Residential Coordinators must work evenings and weekends (On an as needed basis) when students are on campus.

Plan and facilitate daily evening meetings.

Other duties as assigned by GOALS professional staff.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing/able to transport students and other staff members in a Stockton University Vehicle.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, technological, and communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of the mission and goals of the GOALS Program.

Experience advising, mentoring, coaching, or teaching at-risk students.

Interested in working in higher education/student affairs or school counseling.

Residential Life and Programming experience
