Brief Job Overview/Summary
The EOF program is designed to meet the educational and financial needs of students who are capable and motivated. However, they may lack adequate preparation and/or the financial means for college.
Students admitted into Stockton University as EOF freshmen must successfully complete the EOF Summer Academy before they can enroll at the university. Stockton University houses two EOF programs: the Galloway EOF Program and the Atlantic City EOF Program. The EOF Summer Academy runs from June 28th through August 31st simultaneously on both the Galloway campus and the Atlantic City campus and is designed to develop the skills, character, and discipline needed for success at Stockton. This rigorous five-week program is designed to help students develop their foundation in college-level reading, writing, and mathematics. Additionally, students are equipped with knowledge, information, and resources to help them transition academically and socially to Stockton University.
The Academic Coordinator Position is available within both campus programs. This is a stipend position, not hourly, hours/responsibilities may fluctuate based on the needs of the program. The applicant's preferred campus program/location is considered but not guaranteed. The Academic Coordinators will earn a stipend of $6,500 and will receive housing and meals. The Academic Coordinator will not hold additional employment or take classes (including online) without the approval of the Executive Director/ Director.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Direct underperforming students to student success coaches and other campus resources
• Provide mentorship, structure, and support for Instructional Assistants (IA)
• Adhere to EOF and University reporting structure to document any medical, behavioral, psychological, or other student issues
• Cultivate a high level of visibility by interacting and developing relationships with students when possible; promote a strong sense of belonging
• Facilitate connections between students and outside offices, such as Counseling Services, Academic Advising, etc.
• Participate in Coordinator training; assist in facilitating IA training
• Coordinate scholar book and supply distribution
• Supervise trips as needed
• Assist with planning the end-of-program banquet, closing ceremony, and awards
• Communicate with faculty regarding student progress as well as non-academic issues impacting their academics
• Document student class absences and follow up with students
• Participate in Accuplacer training and facilitate, distribute, and proctor student Accuplacer testing (pre and post)
• Facilitate scholar Morning Meetings
• Collaborate with Residential Coordinators to lead scholar night meetings and staff meetings
• Manage the coordination of ordering supplies and food with EOF Staff
• Monitor student progress in Blackboard
• Execute other duties as assigned by EOF professional staff
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required
• Experience advising, mentoring, coaching, or teaching at-risk students
• Knowledge & Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite & Google Suite
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, technological, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff
• Must understand the mission and goals of the Educational Opportunity Fund Program
Preferred Qualifications:
• Must understand the mission and goals of the Educational Opportunity Fund Program
• Experience advising, mentoring, coaching, or teaching at-risk students
• Interested in working in higher education/student affairs or school counseling
