Brief Job Overview/Summary
The Resident Assistant (RA) is a vital student leadership role within the Office of Residential Life. As a part-time, live-in paraprofessional staff member, the RA is responsible for fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and safe living environment that promotes academic success, personal development, and community engagement.

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
RAs serve as a critical link between residents and the Office of Residential Life, maintaining open communication with both residents and supervisors. Each RA is directly supervised by a Graduate Hall Director and is assigned to live in a designated residence hall community.
• Resident Assistants for the Office of Residential Life, under the supervision of their immediate supervisor, will be responsible for the following:
• Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with residents to cultivate a supportive and inclusive living environment to increase student success and retention.
• Serve in an on-call duty rotation to address and respond to after-hours concerns and crises, completing rounds and ensuring duty phone coverage in a timely manner.
• Create and implement programs and initiatives that promote community development, cultural awareness, student well-being and academic success.
• Serve as a positive role model and resource for residential students by providing guidance, support, and referrals to appropriate campus resources.
• Maintain consistent and professional communication with residents and supervisors regarding community needs, concerns, and incidents.
• Promote and uphold community standards, policies, and procedures as outlined by the The Guide to Residential Life and facilitate conflict mediation sessions as needed.
• Respond to and manage emergency situations in a calm and responsible manner, following Residential Life protocols.
• Report maintenance concerns and facilities issues promptly and appropriately.
• Attend and actively participate in all training sessions, staff meetings, and one-on-one supervisory meetings.
• Complete administrative tasks such as duty coverage, incident reporting, and documentation accurately and timely.
• Assist in all large-scale Residential Life programs and initiatives, including but not limited to: Move-In, Welcome Week, Late Night Breakfast, Sibs Day and Operational Closing of residential halls.
• Ensure community safety by conducting regular health and safety inspections, and assisting in bi-semester fire drills.
• Complete all administrative processes initiated by the Office of Residential Life, including but not limited to, Intentional Conversations, Staff Evaluations, Health and Safety Inspections and Fire Drills
• Other duties as assigned.

• Strong communication skills, professionalism, enthusiasm, flexibility, organization, and self-motivation
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team to complete projects
