This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position. The University has implemented a pilot program allowing employees to work either a compressed 4-day work week with extended workdays or may work from home one day a week. Participation is subject to Divisional Executive approval depending on operational need.

Brief Job Overview/Summary

The GOALS program is seeking a responsible and motivated individual who is a current Stockton Student for our mentor position.  Mentors are responsible for providing social/emotional support to students in rising 6th grade through rising 11th grade for our Summer Enrichment program scheduled to operate Monday through Thursday from 8:00am – 3:00pm, July1st until August 8th. Additionally, there will be a required state mentor training during the week of June 17th and a general Summer Staff training on Saturday, June 22nd. Additionally, there will be a week-long Mentor training from Monday through Thursday June 24th to June 27th. This position that offers the opportunity to have hands-on experience in areas of program planning, academic career counseling, developing social media content, engaging middle, and high school students, and facilitating college readiness workshops. 

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Under the immediate supervision of the GOALS GEAR UP Assistant Director, the Mentor will be responsible for the following:
• Provide mentorship to students in grades 6 -11
• Attend all summer programs for the grade level assigned.  
• Assist students in the summer program with academic assignments.
• Assist teachers with facilitating lessons.
• Attendance for each Summer Academy session.
• Create and facilitate social emotional workshops related to college readiness.
• Participate in all GOALS programming during summer, including college tours.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Director and Counselors

Required Qualifications

• Candidates must be enrolled at Stockton University as a matriculated undergraduate student during employment.
• Prior experience that demonstrates an understanding of leadership, college readiness and working with potential first-generation students
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team provide programming implementation and facilitate workshops at partner schools and during Summer Academy
