Brief Job Overview/Summary
The EOF program is designed to meet the educational and financial needs of students who are capable and motivated. However, they may lack adequate preparation and/or the financial means for college.
Students admitted into Stockton University as EOF first-time, first-year students must successfully complete the EOF Summer Academy before their first academic semester at Stockton. Stockton University houses two EOF programs: the Galloway EOF Program and the Atlantic City EOF Program. The EOF Summer Academy runs from June 28th through July 23rd on the Galloway campus and is designed to develop the skills, character, and discipline needed for success at Stockton. This rigorous program is designed to help students develop their foundation in college-level reading, writing, and mathematics. Additionally, students are equipped with knowledge, information, and resources to help them transition academically and socially to Stockton University.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
The Academic Coordinator position is a 5 week (optional live-on) position (June 22nd-July 24th), which includes one week of training. This position reports to the assigned Student Success Coaches and is responsible for fulfilling the following primary duties and responsibilities:
• Provide leadership to the Summer Academy Peer Tutors
• Direct underperforming students to student success coaches and other campus resources
• Maintain regular communication with the Residential Coordinators, Peer Tutors, Peer Mentors and EOF Professional staff
• Report students of concern in math to EOF Math Coach
• Adhere to EOF and University reporting structure to document any medical, behavioral, psychological, or other student issues
• Cultivate a high level of visibility by interacting and developing relationships with students when possible; promote a strong sense of belonging
• Facilitate connections between students and campus partners, such as Counseling Services, Academic Advising, etc.
• Participate in Coordinator training; assist in facilitating Tutor Training
• Coordinate scholar book and supply distribution
• Supervise trips as needed
• Assist with planning the end-of-program banquet, closing ceremony, and awards
• Communicate with faculty regarding student progress as well as non-academic issues impacting their academics
• Document student class absences and follow up with students
• Collaborate with Residential Coordinators to create night meeting agenda
• Facilitate check in meeting with EOF staff
• Manage the coordination of ordering supplies and food with EOF Staff
• Monitor the Remind App and utilize the app to communicate with students
• Update Blackboard daily with announcements and relevant updates
• Execute other duties as assigned by EOF professional staff
Training dates: Monday, 6/22 - Friday, 6/26: 9:00am-4:30pm
Move-In Day for Students: Sunday, 6/28 - 7:00am-3:00pm
Monday-Thursday 7:45am-6:00pm
Fridays- 9:00am-1:00pm
Mandatory Debrief 7/24: 9:00am-3:00pm
Additionally, the chosen candidate will have the option to receive an on-campus dorm from June 22nd to July 25th and will be provided meals during training days and on the days that students are on campus.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required
Preferred Qualifications:
• Understand the mission and goals of the Educational Opportunity Fund Program
• Experience advising, mentoring, coaching, or teaching at-risk students
• Interested in working in higher education/student affairs or school counseling
• Knowledge of & Proficiency in Computer Technology and/or Project Management Systems (i.e. Google Suite, Canva, Blackboard, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, technological, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff
