Brief Job Overview/Summary
The EOF program is designed to meet the educational and financial needs of students who are capable and motivated. However, they may lack adequate preparation and/or the financial means for college.
Students admitted into Stockton University as EOF first-time, first-year students must successfully complete the EOF Summer Academy before their first academic semester at Stockton. Stockton University houses two EOF programs: the Galloway EOF Program and the Atlantic City EOF Program. The EOF Summer Academy runs from June 28th through July 23rd on the Galloway campus and is designed to develop the skills, character, and discipline needed for success at Stockton. This rigorous program is designed to help students develop their foundation in college-level reading, writing, and mathematics. Additionally, students are equipped with knowledge, information, and resources to help them transition academically and socially to Stockton University.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
The Academic Tutor is a 5-week position from June 22nd - July 24th, which includes one week of training. This position is not required to live on campus. Academic tutors will be led by the Academic Coordinators and report directly to their assigned Student Success Coaches. The Academic Tutor will report Monday-Thursdays 7:45am-6pm, with potential for additional hours on Fridays and the weekends.
• Attend assigned classes with students to observe/audit daily lessons
• Manage breakfast and lunch attendance for assigned students/classes
• Report classroom behavior, attendance, and performance to Academic Coordinators
• Lead mandatory, daily assigned course workshops/modules and serve as faculty liaison to provide additional support to students
• Assist students with coursework during daily drop-in afternoon tutoring hours from 2:00–4:00 p.m., providing individual or group tutoring as needed
• Support Stockton’s Diversity commitment and promote a strong sense of belonging
• Refer students of concern to the Academic Coordinators and provide one-on-one review sessions with underperforming students; follow up with EOF Student Success Coaches and faculty
• Follow EOF and University reporting structure to document any medical, behavioral, psychological, or other student issues
• Report daily check-ins to Academic Coordinators
Training, M-F June 22-26th: 9am-4:30pm
Tuesday, June 30th: 1:30pm-6:00pm
Academy duration: Mondays - Thursdays: 7:45am-6:00pm
Mandatory Debrief day Friday, July 24th: 9:00am-3:00pm
Required Qualifications:
• 3.0 GPA in related subject area
• At least one full year (2 semesters) of college experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Tutoring or teaching experience.
