This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position. The University has implemented a program allowing employees to work from home one day a week. Participation is subject to Divisional Executive approval depending on operational need.

Brief Job Overview/Summary
Under the coordination of a Professional Services Specialist 2 or higher supervisory officer in the Information Technology services area, this position is responsible for providing technical support to the campus community, for all University related activities, by answering questions and solving problems related to computer hardware, computer operations, software utilization and installation, and network access.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provides both in-person and virtual technical support to members of the campus community.
• Monitors Help Desk support request system, responds to technology support requests, and documents Help Desk support activities.
• Maintains a positive and professional relationship with Faculty, Staff, and Students.
• Performs general computer troubleshooting and repair, including installing operating systems, processing system back-up, and basic hardware diagnostics.
• Consults with other Information Technology Services personnel to resolve problems reported to the Help Desk.
• Assists faculty, staff, and students with connecting their devices to University related services such as Wi-Fi and email.
• Performs regular maintenance and in-person technical support for campus classroom equipment.
• Provides technical support for University events and academic courses.
• Assists in documenting processes and practices that ensure the reliable and efficient operations of the Help Desk and other technical support units within Information Technology Services.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to support institutional events and cover various support requests as assigned by the Associate Director of the IT Help Desk Services or a designated supervisor.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Associate Director of IT Help Desk Services or a designated supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
• Knowledge of current principles and methodologies in the Computer Science field.
• Experience working in a customer service-focused environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of current and legacy Microsoft operating systems and commonly used software applications.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and software to support University operations.
• Must have the ability to lift 25 lbs.
• A valid NJ driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
NOTE:
• Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
• Five (5) years of professional experience in different aspects of administration and business practices; including design and implementation of policy and procedures, vendor service contracts and improving and updating management practices.
OR
• Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.
NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range of basic knowledge of the profession's concepts and practices; and is performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Endpoint, Intune, and Jamf.
• Experience with Microsoft Administrative Technologies (ex: Windows Server, Active Directory, PowerShell, etc.)
• Experience with workstation deployment, patch/update, and management tools such as WDS, MDT, SCCM, WinPE, MDM, Deploy Studio, and Munki.
• Possess, or have the ability, to gain the industry recognized certification for hardware and software, CompTIA A+, within 90 days after the start of employment.
• Ability to read and write scripts in VBS, AppleScript, and PowerShell
