Brief Job Overview/Summary

Position will assist with laboratory prep, chemical and equipment inventory, collection room storage and specimens, and prep room stock. Will assist faculty and researchers with chemicals, specimens, equipment, etc. as requested.

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Director of Academic Laboratories and Field Facilities, the responsibilities include:

  • Set up laboratory equipment, supplies and specimens for weekly laboratory experiments in Chemistry and Biology
  • Assist in providing specimens and solutions for NAMS courses
  • Maintain the NAMS’ Chemical Inventory control system which is required under present compliance for chemical use and storage
  • Maintain a current inventory of equipment, chemicals and materials used in laboratories and classroom demonstrations
  • Organize and continue to maintain Stockton University Collection Room (USC2-321) including storage, logging and labelling specimens, acquisitions, and upkeep of valuable materials
  • Keep inventory of additional specimens in USC2 rooms 321, 323, 324 and USC2 stairwell
  • Assist faculty and staff with borrowing collection room specimens
  • Stock prep room with supplies required by labs
  • Work to meet needs of researchers when requested (i.e. setting up BIOPAC equipment for loan, formulating biological solutions for labs, supplying specialized equipment or tools for faculty)
  • Recommend equipment, materials and supplies to be ordered for laboratory courses
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Academic Laboratories and Field Facilities, the Dean of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and/or the President and Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry, or related field
  • One-year professional experience in an institution of higher education or in education, higher education or other field that is directly related to the functions of the position

NOTE:
Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours is considered one year of college.)  A Master’s degree in a field related to the position to be filled may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
