Brief Job Overview/Summary

Stockton University’s Division of Student Affairs seeks an Assistant Director of the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program for the Galloway campus to support equitable access, academic achievement, and post-graduate success. The Assistant Director will develop programmatic goals aligned with university strategies, manage budgeting and compliance, and ensure students have access to high-impact learning opportunities. They will supervise Federal Work Study students and support staff, provide leadership and professional development, and coordinate the annual EOF Summer Academy. Through these efforts, the Assistant Director will foster an inclusive and supportive environment that promotes student success from matriculation through graduation.

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of students by providing personalized academic coaching, mentorship, and targeted referrals to support their academic and personal development. This includes conducting regular one-on-one meetings to assess students' progress, identify challenges, and develop individualized action plans for success
  • Support the Director of EOF in leading, integrating, and aligning the Educational Opportunity Fund Program staff and service operations with New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund Program, division, and university priorities and national best practices
  • Assist in the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of the EOF Summer Academy, collaborating with faculty, staff, and student leaders to develop a comprehensive curriculum that fosters academic readiness, personal growth, and community building
  • Supervise and train Federal Work-Study (FWS) students, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their roles. This includes conducting orientation sessions, offering ongoing professional development opportunities, and providing guidance on workplace expectations, time management, and communication skills
  • Assist in the bi-weekly NJFAMS Roster Certifications, ensuring that all EOF student records are accurately updated and submitted in compliance with state regulations. This involves verifying enrollment status, academic progress, and eligibility criteria for each student, working closely with the registrar and other departments to resolve any discrepancies
  • Serve as the Financial aid liaison, ensuring EOF students receive accurate guidance on financial aid processes, eligibility requirements, and available resources, work closely with the Office of Financial Aid to monitor student awards, address discrepancies, and advocate for students facing financial challenges, assist students in understanding their financial aid packages, completing required documents, and maintaining compliance with EOF and institutional funding guidelines
  • Develop and recommend strategies and programs in collaboration with campus partners that meet the specific transitional and retention needs of EOF students, with a focus on increasing career readiness among respective groups
  • Support the recruitment of EOF scholars by conducting high school and community college visits, meeting with students, families, and guidance counselors to promote program opportunities, along with representing EOF at weekend events such as open houses and college fairs, ensuring prospective students understand the academic and financial support available to them
  • Serve as the EAB Ospreys Navigate specialist, overseeing the utilization of the platform to enhance student support and retention efforts, such as reviewing student data, tracking academic progress, identifying at-risk students, and making timely referrals to appropriate campus resources such as tutoring, advising, and counseling, provide training and guidance to EOF staff on effectively using Navigate for case management, appointment scheduling, and student outreach
  • Lead the EOF Graduate Grant process, ensuring eligible students receive financial support for their advanced studies, guiding students through the application process, verifying eligibility, and collaborating with the Office of Financial Aid to facilitate the awarding of funds
  • Work evenings and weekends, as needed, in support of campus events and programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in higher education, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Two years professional experience in an institution of higher education or administration in education, higher education or other field that is directly related to the functions of the position
  • Experience in a functional area(s) that supports the diverse needs of EOF students
  • Experience with budgets and reporting

*NOTE

  • Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours is considered one year of college)
  • A Ph.D. degree or an Ed.D. degree may be substituted for two years of the required experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Five years of professional experience working with students in a higher education environment
  • Experience facilitating opportunities for students to access high impact practice opportunities
  • Experience implementing retention and student success services for BIPOC, first-generation, low-income students, adult learners, etc. in a college/university setting
  • Experience developing student leaders
  • Experience with Anthology Baseline Assessment tool
  • Experience utilizing student information systems (e.g., EAB, Banner, Slate, etc.)
