This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position. The University has implemented a pilot program allowing employees to work either a compressed 4-day work week with extended workdays or may work from home one day a week. Brief Job Overview/Summary

The GOALS program is designed to provide college access by preparing scholars academically, financially, and emotionally for post-secondary education opportunities. The program is seeking instructors for our Saturday Academy to provide academic enrichment to students in grades 7 through 12 from the Atlantic City and Pleasantville Public School District. The GOALS Saturday Academy runs operate The GOALS Saturday Academy runs for twelve Saturdays from October 14th through May 4th and is designed to develop the skills, character and discipline needed for success as students graduate and matriculate to post-secondary education. This rigorous academic enrichment program is designed to help students develop in reading, writing, mathematics, and technology.

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The GOALS Academic Instructor position responsibilities fall within 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday’s as well as a Mandatory staff training on Saturday, October 7th. The program is seeking instructors in Language Arts and Performance Arts. Under the immediate supervision of the GOALS GEAR UP Program Director and Curriculum Specialist, the Academic Instructor will also be responsible for the following:

  • Create innovative lesson plans with guidance from program curriculum specialist and Director
  • Submit lesson plans according to GOALS GEAR UP Program guidelines in a timely manner
  • Ability to provide academic enrichment to middle and or high school students
  • Maintain communication with curriculum specialist and Director
  • Provide cross-collaborative instruction with other instructors
  • Work with program staff to identify and assist students who need additional academic assistance
  • Help students develop a successful mindset
  • Help students enhance their academic abilities
  • Follow GOALS and University reporting structure to document any medical, behavioral, psychological, or other student issues
  • Maintain a high level of visibility by interacting and developing relationships with students when possible; promote a strong sense of belonging
  • Supervise trips as needed
  • Assist with planning of the end-of-program closing ceremony, and showcase
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and or 1 year of teaching experience required
  • Experience teaching potential first-generation college students in grades 7 – 12
  • Knowledge & Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite & Google Suite
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, technological, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, instructors, and staff
  • Must understand the mission and goals of the GOALS GEAR UP Program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A valid driver’s license and willing/able to transport students and other staff members in a Stockton University Staff Vehicle
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, technological, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, instructors, and staff
  • Must understand the mission and goals of the GOALS GEAR UP Program
  • At least 1-years of teaching experience
